Our History
Polycoat Products was founded in 1979 in South El Monte, California, manufacturing coatings for decks and caulking materials. In 1984, London-educated polymer physicist Laxmi “Lax” Gupta acquired the company, bringing with him a vision to expand its capabilities in polyurethane and polyurea technologies.
Under Lax’s leadership, Polycoat grew steadily — adding new product lines, expanding across the U.S., and acquiring complementary companies. In 2009, a second facility in Texas dramatically increased production capacity and geographic reach.
Today, Polycoat continues to grow through innovation, partnerships and a commitment to delivering high-performance coating systems that stand the test of time.

Polycoat Products was established

Laxmi “Lax” Gupta acquired Polycoat Products in South El Monte, CA
1988
Operations were moved to Santa Fe Springs, CA
2000
Santa Fe Springs operations were expanded by adding a second warehouse facility
2008
Opened 22-acre, 60,000-square-foot office and 100,000-sqaure-foot manufacturing facility in Bedford, TX
2013
Santa Fe Springs operations expanded by adding a third warehouse facility
2015
Opened nine-acre, 208,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Santa Fe Springs, CA. Also acquired HiTac Adhesives & Coatings
2017
Opened 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Arlington, TX
2019
Bedford operations expanded by adding a second warehouse facility
2021
Polycoat Products acquired Chemco Systems Inc. and SuperSkinSystems
Lax’s Legacy
On December 4, 1984, Lax Gupta achieved his dream of building a business rooted in science, service and integrity. Over the next 38 years, he transformed Polycoat into one of the largest family-owned enterprises in the industry.
Through strategic acquisitions and deep investment in R&D, Lax built a network of brands and nearly one million square feet of manufacturing space nationwide. His work earned several national and international patents and helped shape the future of polymer coatings.
Admired for his integrity and leadership, Lax left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. His legacy lives on through the companies he built and the people he inspired.
